Handed down through the shamanic Kahili family of Hawaii. It has been taught and shared with the rest of the world by Serge Kahili King, the founder of Aloha International and adopted grandson of the Kahili family.
This beautiful skill uses only light touch on the skin, our body’s largest organ, to generate powerful heal- ing forces. There are seven easy-to-learn strokes connecting with the energy of the 7 kingdoms in na- ture that the Hawaiians acknowledge. No massage training is necessary to learn Kahi Loa. This work is extremely versatile because there is no need for a special setting or massage table, and the client can remain clothed. It can be used in situations where other bodywork isn’t appropriate. Some of those situations may be with people too shy to disrobe, the very traumatised, the very fragile - physically and mentally, people in wheelchairs or immobilized in other ways, babies, small children and animals. The Hawaiian ideas behind health and illness will be discussed, plus an important preparation technique before even touching a client - a key to maximum effectiveness.
Instructor: Lynne Volker has been involved in metaphysical and healing work since the early 70’s. She is a graduate of Irene’s Myomassology Institute, and a licensed massage therapist with the state of Michigan. Also, she is an Alakai (assistant, teacher) with Aloha International. She met Serge King, the founder of Aloha International, in 1989, and began her studies in Hawaiian shamanic knowledge, which includes the bodywork Kahi Loa. She taught Kahi Loa at Irene’s from 2003 through 2015, and has an ongoing class in Hawaiian studies which meets at her home monthly.
